It was based on the 1993 John Le Carré novel and adapted by David Farr to the present day. The six-part serial began broadcasting on BBC One on 21 February, while in the US it was first shown on 19 April 2016 on AMC. The series has been sold to over 180 countries and has enjoyed very strong viewing figures across the globe with talk of a second series possibly being made.
Mike Day, the CEO of Palma Pictures, told the Bulletin that he and all the team are "delighted" by the news because it will not only help to boost Majorca’s image but also further stamp Palma Pictures’s reputation as one of the world’s leading production service companies.
The series featured many of Majorca’s most emblematic locations, in particular La Fortalesa, the fortress which protects the Bay of Pollensa. Others included Soller, the small bay in Deya, Palma and a number of classic and famous hotels.
The nominations for "outstanding" awards are: Limited Series; Lead Actor in a Mini-series or a Movie, Tom Hiddleston; Supporting Actor in a Mini-series or Movie, Hugh Laurie; Supporting Actress in a Mini-series or a Movie, Olivia Colman; Directing for a Mini-series, Movie or Dramatic Special, Susanne Bier; Writing for a Mini-series, Movie or Dramatic Special; Casting for a Mini-series, Movie or a Special; Main Title Design; Main Title Theme Music; Music Composition for a Mini-series, Movie or a Special; Sound Editing for a Mini-series, Movie or a Special; Sound Mixing for a Limited Series or Movie.
All this is great news for Majorca's audio visual industry.

This program was excellent. They spent over 20 Million pounds on the production. There may be a second series. I would be delighted if there is a second one.
