The events, as recorded by a vehicle security camera, took place last Friday at around 13:50 hours.
At one point, the bus came across a tractor in the same lane, which was travelling at low speed and stuck to the right-hand side of the road.
The bus driver decided to overtake it on a straight stretch with a broken white line.
In other words, the manoeuvre is perfectly legal as long as there are no vehicles in front of him.
Just at that moment, when he was carrying out the manoeuvre and had completely moved into the oncoming lane, he ran head-on into a car the driver of which had no choice but to brake hard and pull over to the right-hand hard shoulder to avoid the collision.
In the end, thanks to the car driver’s skill, the collision was avoided.
As the scene was recorded on a safety camera of a vehicle driving a few metres behind, the owner of the images tried to contact the Balearic government (official website of the TIB) to report the incident but the website does not allow documentary evidence of the offences to be submitted.
Eyewitnesses described the action as totally reckless and dangerous.
“This man is not aware that he is driving a large bus full of people. If he had collided head-on with the car we would be talking about a real tragedy”.
The images are now in the possession of the Guardia Civil and Local Police of the municipality in question so that they open an investigation into what happened and sanction, if deemed appropriate, the alleged reckless action of the driver.

Stan The ManTIB card, pay cash for it and charge it on the bus! If over 65 you get a pensioner card that gives discounts. You do not need residencia.
@Nigel Maude. I chose to use cash. I have to wait ONE YEAR for my Residencia. Then I can get a Pass. The less use of my Bank Cards, the better for me. I have been , SCAMMED once , NEVER AGAIN!!.
Nigel MaudeI am amused there are 13 who are not driving with due care and attention and consideration for others. I fear there are many more judging by those who have yet to find the "indicators", use roundabouts as merry go rounds, and generally forget there are rules.
Stan The ManWhy do need a ticket, use a card it is cheaper and your stress will be reduced!😉
The Bus Drivers on Mallorca are very strange, to say the least. Reckless speeding to meet some of the timetables settings is one. Overcrowding of a Bus is regular and dangerous. Forcing Passengers to fight through an over crowded Bus to go to the exit doors at the back is total madness. Should one of these overcrowded Buses crash, with around40 to 50 Passengers plus. The injuries they would sustain would be very serious if not fatal. Yesterday I collected my ticket and the machine seized. You have to pull the ticket to obtain it. Which I have had to do on every Bus journey. The Driver blamed me for pulling the ticket to receive it , causing the machine to seize up. That Driver really angered me and is very lucky I did not lose my temper with him. On the very next Bus, I waited for the delivered ticket, which the Driver said PULL IT !!!. . WHO EVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SETTING TIMETABLES SHOULD BE SACKED. The Buses are always late by at least 10 Minutes because of many Tourists getting on and off at stops on the journey. THE WINTER TIMETABLE HAS NOT BEEN PUBLISHED YET. THE WINTERBUS TO CALA MILLOR STOPS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE URBANISATION. YOU HAVE TO WALK INTO THE CENTRE OF CALA MILLOR, OR WALK TO CALA BONA. TOTALLY USELESS!!!.
Piers de-VillneuveAn avid description of yourself? or are you Mallorca's budding Stirling Moss. 🤔
Sack the bus driver and take away his licence. Total idiot.
@Nigel Maude, you clearly don't drive and are a bit dim.
Although the bus was possibly in the wrong the car you say had to brake suddenly has no brake lights! And as the road is wider than the white lines, it is only polite and thoughtful to move over and allow oncoming traffic a chance to pass a tractor which should have been straddling his side white line. It is called driving with due care and attention and consideration for others.
