In Seville on Friday, the president of the Balearics, Marga Prohens, took the opportunity to announce an aspect of the sponsorship agreement with Real Mallorca, one which will promote Mallorca and the Balearics to the whole world.
This agreement will comprise, among other things, a kit sponsorship - the players' shorts anyway. Resplendent in a red Mallorca shirt, which won't be worn for the Copa del Rey final, the president presented a pair of shorts with the final's turquoise colour. Emblazoned on the shorts was the legend 'Mallorca Illes Balears'.
Presumably there is to be a shorts' rotation system for two seasons (the period of the sponsorship contract), as the names of each island will appear - on the back of the shorts.
"All over the world we will be able to proudly display the name of the four islands by our best representatives, who are the Mallorca players," said the president, who was accompanied on the pitch at Seville's La Cartuja Stadium by the club's owner, Andy Kohlberg, and CEO, Alfonso Díaz.
The sponsorship is to be co-funded by the Balearic government and the Council of Mallorca.

OMG. What a joke!!! Use the money to make more and better bike paths. Please stop wasting and stealing our tax money.
As there is a call for reduction of Tourists. Plus further increased tax costs with Airport long delays etc.. Why are they promoting Mallorca?
Publicity on Arses? Hmm.
