Palma City Council is going to significantly reinforce security and tackle anti-social behaviour in the predominantly German resort of the Playa de Palma this season. The Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, unveiled his plans today at a meeting with the President of the Playa de Palma Hotel Association (AHPP), Pedro Marín. The aim is to improve security and civic behaviour in the area by increasing police resources and personnel while introducing new control measures.

Sibe MentoEl Terreno?
Remember that film, 'Groundhog Day' ?
I was told by the police they can't do anything about the illegal "after" bar on my residential street — it is up to the judiciary / judge, I assume to evict the 'tenants'. Until then, they happily allow people to bang on their door all night trying to get in, any night of the week. The police know it's a drug den, but again, they can't do anything because it's a private property not a public bar. From what I can find online, this 'venue' dates back to 2016. Example, 13:00 on a Tuesday the police attend and at least 50 people emerge from the place, filling the street. Example, 20:45 on a Friday the police attend to a distressed person who is *shouting* making noise in the street. They check the property, several people leave. 15 minutes after the police leave, the distressed person is back smashing furniture against the door of the property. The police attend again and tell the person to leave. Example, this one was reported in the MDB (29/09/2024 17:21), the place is attacked at 09:30 by people upset about some traffic incident — police attend, street is locked down. These are just some of the incidents that the police have attended to. This type of behaviour makes the street feel very dangerous as you never know when something might kick-off or when some drugged up weirdo is shouting in the street at any time of day or night. The police suggested I go to the council and press to raise awareness of the anti-social behaviour and noise. I can't even begin to imagine the bureaucracy I would face going to the council. Here I am MDB, raising awareness — I already emailed you but no response.
Sort of heard this all before, like every year and guess what, nothing ever changes.
This is good News how ever until the people who are Organising these groups are punished to the full extent of the Law nothing will change it is a way of life for many young people and there inclusion into these Gang´s begins at an early age with little or no parental guidance exposure to Drug´s & Prostitution , the situation has reached a level that will effect the economy and cause real Pain to everyone Tourist´s & Mallorcan´s !
Well , sunday in Portoxil , after parking up, i noticed a row of cars had the windows smashed by thieves. Maybe this is down to Gernan tourists also ? Lets get Palma in order before protecting resorts where holiday makers are their own worst enemy
All good initiatives. No downsides. Some of the ideas I recall from articles and comments in MDB from 2 years ago. Maybe, just maybe, someone in office is reading this......
