Three weeks ago, the UK driving licence problem in Spain looked as though it was just days away from being resolved and signed off on by the Spanish government. But this morning, the British Embassy in Madrid issued a statement which suggests that all those British residents waiting for the new window to exchange their licences may have to reverse back into neutral.

john williamsAll the Spaniards and all other residents automatically will exchange their driving licence to a UK one when theirs expire. Most countries do not have a lifetime driving licence like in the UK but needs to be renewed every 5 or 10 years. So problems does not occur. If I would be resident in the UK I would not have any problems to change it. Can't understand why so many Brits are so reluctant to do the same. This "it will be only weeks away" might go on and on and on.
john williamsTo date, nobody has been able to identify any ban or prevention of British residents in Spain from getting a driving licence. End of. Nobody has been able to provide any evidence of that. The only complaint is that that as a Spanish resident, you need to get a Spanish licence. And that you need to take a test. But nobody has ever said you can't get a driving licence. Ever. The obvious solution is to get a licence. nobody's stopping you.
Oh great, this story again. Next up, 'Tourists are heading for Turkey this year'
Don't see the problem. Just tell all UK based Spaniards they have 20 weeks to pass their UK tests and get a licence. So 'kin simple why don't our guys grow a pair?
Well, shucks. You can always just go get one. That might help.
